What is new in 2.8.0
Download it and start — no account
- No account, no key to start. Install Luciai Studio and open it: on its first start (online, once) your free month on this computer begins by itself, and the IDE opens. The status bar shows how many days are left.
- Then a free account keeps it working, with no time limit. Choose *Create a free account* — in the license card (click *License* in the status bar), or on the screen that shows when the month has ended. Register and confirm your email address: this computer's month becomes your key with no time limit, and Luciai Studio picks it up by itself within a minute — nothing to paste. Already have an account? *I already have an account* does the same after you sign in.
- Each computer has one free month: reinstalling gives back the same month. On another computer, paste your key from your account as before.
- Luciai Studio stays free. If it helps you, [buy me a coffee](https://buymeacoffee.com/adeelahmed2) and support children in remote and poor areas of Pakistan in getting an education. *Every child deserves an education. I will use this money to help poor and needy children in Pakistan get an education.*
Fixes
- The release builds' start check waits for the app's own start (a slow machine no longer fails a good build).

- Windows 10 / 11, 64-bit:

What is new in 2.7.0
Luciai Studio is free
- Free, with no time limit. The whole IDE and Lucicoder, on up to three devices — nothing to pay, ever. Create a free account on the website and your key comes by email. A key from the time the free plan lasted a month keeps working past its old end date — nothing to do, nothing to paste.
- Buy me a coffee. If Luciai Studio helps you, [buy me a coffee](https://buymeacoffee.com/adeelahmed2) and support children in remote and poor areas of Pakistan in getting an education. *Every child deserves an education. I will use this money to help poor and needy children in Pakistan get an education.* It is on the activation screen, in the license card (the status bar's License item) and in Help → Buy Me a Coffee. Entirely up to you — Luciai Studio stays free either way.
Lucicoder
- Does the work, in the right place. Before a turn it maps the opened folder — each project, what it is, where its code starts, how it runs, whether its packages are installed — checks the paths you name (and says so when one does not exist), runs commands in the project's own folder, and makes the edits and runs the commands itself instead of telling you to.
- A fix is checked on the running app. A pasted error counts as fixed when the page no longer shows it, not when the change is written; a server that stops because its packages are missing names the command that installs them; a server already running in a folder is used, not started a second time on the same port.
- The Gemini CLI as a third account engine and helper, next to Claude Code and Codex — "ask Gemini to …", signed in with your Google account.
- Remote MCP servers that want an account are signed in to in the browser (OAuth with PKCE); the token stays in the system's credential store, never in a file or the model's context.
- PowerPoint decks: slides added, removed and moved in a deck you already have, on the deck's own layouts, its notes and comments moving with them.
- Reads more, runs less: read-only SQLite queries without
sqlite3installed; archives and media are read, not run; a file outside the project is read where it is. - Honest answers: the report says what you asked for first, then what changed and how it was checked; a read it announces must really have happened; no test files you did not ask for; a README or changelog is not rewritten for a change to other files.
- OpenTelemetry traces of its turns, to a collector you name in Settings ▸ Observability (off unless you do; never a prompt, an answer, a file's content, a path or a command).
The IDE
- A tray icon; Lucicoder's background tasks end when the IDE does.
Fixes
- On Windows, commands written with POSIX single quotes reached
cmd.exeas they were and failed; they run with double quotes now. - Code Lucicoder inserts at the top level stays at the margin (it took the indentation of the line above); a failing check it repeats is sent back to the code, not run again.
- A file you declined is not offered a third time; a stopped turn closes with an honest note instead of a summary of work it did not do; small models' tool calls written without braces are read.

What is new in 2.6.0
For the first time on macOS
- Luciai Studio for the Mac: one app for Apple silicon and Intel, built and started on a Mac before it is published. It is not signed with an Apple Developer ID, so the first time macOS asks: right-click the app → Open (or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway). After that it opens like any app.
Languages
- Eight more languages — Swift, Objective-C, C and C++, Go, C#, Kotlin, PHP and Ruby — each with project templates, code intelligence from the language's own server (completion, hover, go to definition, references) and Run.
- The debugger for them: breakpoints, stepping, variables, watches and stopping on exceptions for Swift and Objective-C, C and C++ built with CMake, PHP with Xdebug, Ruby, and Kotlin (on the JDK's own debugger, built with Gradle or kotlinc). Run and Debug installs what a language still needs.
- Apple apps: on a Mac, SwiftUI apps for macOS and for iOS are built with Xcode and debugged on the Mac or on the iOS Simulator.
- Attach to a running Java or Kotlin program on its debug port (Run and Debug ▸ Attach… ▸ Attach to JVM).
- Flutter and React Native: templates, the Mobile panel (your devices, the device's screen, run, hot reload) and Flutter and Dart debugging on a phone.
Lucicoder
- Claude Code and Codex as helpers: say "ask Claude Code to …" and Lucicoder hands the task to the coding agent installed on your computer, signed in with your own account. Its steps show in the chat, and what it changed belongs to the turn — Revert this turn undoes it too. In Ask mode you agree to the hand-over first.
- Works on SSH hosts: its file and command tools run on the server the project lives on.
- Reads any kind of file anywhere on the computer — "what is in my Downloads folder", a PDF on the desktop, a zip, an e-book — and keeps a question a question; a folder name mistyped by a letter is found.
- Reviews a pull request: reads it, comments on its lines, and posts the review after you approve.
- Subagents in the background, and a
run_codescript can start subagents. - The lsp tool finds implementations, type definitions, callers and callees.
- PowerPoint decks: it makes new ones from its text, and changes the text of a deck you already have in place — a word in a title, a new bullet, a table cell — keeping its design: only the changed characters change, a bold word stays bold, a new bullet looks like the one above it.
- Pictures it has already looked at leave the context after the newest three, so a long session with screenshots still fits a small model.
- Keeps the conversation: the prompt and the tool list count against the model's window, so a small local model no longer forgets your earlier questions.
- Conversations get their own title, rename, fork, export and 👍/👎; where a turn's time went is shown; one-time scheduled tasks ("in 20 minutes", "tomorrow at 9"); Anthropic's prompt cache; OpenAI's Responses API; its reading tools as an MCP server (
luciai-studio --mcp).
The IDE
- The terminal on Linux and macOS runs the system's own shell (on Kubuntu it asked for PowerShell), and the IDE started from a launcher or the Finder has the same PATH as a terminal.
- Files in encodings other than UTF-8 open and save as they are; every menu shortcut works; quitting while work is still running asks first; Settings Sync merges what two computers changed.
Fixes
- Claude Code or Codex as the chat's engine took no message with more than one line on Windows ("batch file arguments are invalid"); every message goes through now.
- Revert this turn refused a whole turn when one of Lucicoder's edits in it had failed.
- Opening another project now ends the previous project's language servers (they ran until the IDE was closed — the Kotlin one alone takes about a gigabyte).
- Code intelligence works for every language with a server, in any folder, and after switching projects (requests were lost to the previous project's server).
- A submenu opens whole, beside its menu; the History, Memory and ⋯ lists of the docked Lucicoder panel are no longer cut off.
- The Expo template works with Expo SDK 57.

What is new in 2.5.0
- Lucicoder answers like Claude Code: each call shows where it happened, with its result, and a question gets its answer — the file names, the value, the line — not a description of what was done.
- A context meter in the chat header shows how full the model's window is ("37% of 8.2k"); a click condenses the earlier conversation.
- Subagents on their own model, with their own tools: an agent file can say
model:andtools:— a small local model for a lookup, a stronger one for the hard part. - An expert to consult: choose a stronger model as the Expert, and Lucicoder asks it when it is stuck (
ask_expert); Cost & Usage lists what it cost. - A fallback model: when the chosen provider is busy or down, the turn continues on the fallback model instead of failing.
- Lucicoder from the command line:
luciai-studio --run "task"runs one task in the current folder and prints the answer (--mode,--json,--revert); Tools ▸ Create Command-Line Launcher… adds a shortlucicommand. - The hook events Claude Code has: UserPromptSubmit, SessionStart, Stop, SubagentStop, PreCompact and Notification, next to PreToolUse and PostToolUse.
- An open tab shows Lucicoder's change at once — and your own unsaved edits are never overwritten.
- A background task that ends is reported by itself; MCP servers' resources can be listed and read; Model Compare has a blind mode and can write one answer from all of them.
- A review before importing skills or agents: what each one says, and what to be wary of, before anything is added.
- AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md are read like LUCIAI.md, the prompt names the real system and today's date, and a busy provider is asked again before a turn gives up.
Fixes
- Safety: a line Lucicoder typed into a terminal it had opened skipped the forbidden-command check and the approval — it is now checked, and asks, like any other command. After Lucicoder has read a web page, what it does next outside the project asks first in every mode, Full Auto included.
- Plan mode can be chosen in the mode list and with
/mode plan. - "+" says what it did; the Sessions list survives two windows; Reveal in Explorer finds the folder.

What is new in 2.4.0
- Lucicoder has a browser of its own: it opens a page, clicks, types, reads it and takes screenshots — to check the app it just built, or a page you point it to.
- Goals: give Lucicoder a goal and a check ("the tests pass"); it keeps going, round after round, until the check passes or you stop it.
- Agent teams: Lucicoder can split a larger job between several agents working from a shared task board.
- Lucicoder in other editors: it speaks the Agent Client Protocol, so editors like Zed can use it as their agent (
luciai-studio --acp). - The light theme, reworked view by view: every panel on the theme's colours, status colours you can read on white, a light terminal, the bottom tabs on one line, thin scrollbars and a tidier Lucicoder panel.
- Licensing: the free plan lasts one month; Professional, paid once, keeps Luciai Studio working with no time limit — with the same key: the IDE picks the upgrade up by itself.
Files
- Windows 10 / 11, 64-bit:
LuciaiStudio_2.4.0_x64-setup.exe(recommended) orLuciaiStudio_2.4.0_x64_en-US.msi - Linux, 64-bit:
