Your license

Your free month on a new computer, how your key works and why it has no end date, the device limit — and what to do when a key is not accepted.

What your key is

Your license key is one line of text in three parts, separated by dots: LUCIAI.<payload>.<signature>. The payload names the email address the key was issued to, the plan and — if the plan has one — the end date. The signature is an Ed25519 signature that Luciai Studio checks offline — so the IDE starts without asking a license server, and works without an internet connection.

Your key with no time limit arrives as soon as you confirm your email address, by email and in your account. Keep it to yourself: it carries your email address, and each device it is active on counts toward your plan's limit.

Your free month on a new computer

No account to start: on its first start, Luciai Studio asks our licensing service for this computer's free month, and opens. It needs to be online for that, once. Each computer has one free month — reinstalling gives back the same month, with the days it had left.

Before the month ends, choose Create a free account in Luciai Studio — in the license card (click License in the status bar), or on the screen that shows when the month has ended. Register and confirm your email address: this computer's month becomes your key with no time limit, and Luciai Studio picks it up by itself within a minute. Already have an account? Choose I already have an account and sign in: the same happens.

Activate a key

On another computer — or one whose free month is over — enter the key from your account:

  1. Open Luciai Studio. When the license screen appears, or from the license card, choose to enter a key.
  2. Paste the whole key — it starts with LUCIAI. — and choose Activate.

That is all. From then on the IDE starts without asking — until the key's end date, if it has one.

Free, with no time limit

Luciai Studio is free: the whole IDE and the whole Lucicoder agent, with no time limit and nothing to pay. A free key has no end date.

Keys issued while the free plan lasted one month (until 8 October 2026) still carry that end date. Each one is replaced by a key without an end date, and Luciai Studio picks it up by itself when it is online — when it starts, every 12 hours while it runs, and every minute while it shows that the free month has ended. There is nothing to paste; the key in your account is always the current one.

Buy me a coffee

Buy me a coffee and support children in remote and poor areas of Pakistan in getting an education. Every child deserves an education. I will use this money to help poor and needy children in Pakistan get an education. The button is on the pricing page. Entirely up to you — Luciai Studio stays free either way.

When a key ends

A free key has no end date, so it does not end. A key from the time the free plan lasted a month is replaced by one without an end date, as above.

A key of a plan that ends and is renewed keeps working for seven days after its end date, and Luciai Studio reminds you to renew. After those seven days, it asks for a new key before it opens the IDE again.

Your projects are ordinary files on your disk. Nothing is locked, changed or deleted when a key ends.

Dates are in UTC

The end date in the key is a calendar date in UTC, and Luciai Studio compares it with your computer's clock. If your computer's date is wrong, a valid key can look expired.

Devices

A free key can be active on three devices at once. Your account lists the devices your key is active on, and you can free one there to make room for another.

Moving to another computer? On the old one, open the license box at the bottom right of Luciai Studio and choose Deactivate on this computer: its device slot is freed at once. If the old computer is gone, free it in your account instead.

A computer you free in your account stops when Luciai Studio next checks in — when it starts, and every 12 hours while it runs — and says it was removed from your license. To use Luciai Studio there again, choose Enter your license key and paste your key; that takes a device slot again. Offline, nothing changes until the computer is back online.

To tell your devices apart, the licensing service keeps a salted hash of a machine identifier — never the identifier itself — with the device's name and operating system. Privacy and data lists everything that is sent.

When a key is not accepted

Luciai Studio says why it refused a key. Find the message below.

“Not a Luciai license key”

What you pasted does not start with LUCIAI. (the dot included). Copy the whole key again, from the email or from your account.

“Malformed key”

A part of the key is missing, or a space or line break got into it. Copy the key again in one piece. Copying it from your account avoids the line breaks some mail apps add.

“Signature check failed”

The key differs from the one that was issued — usually by a single character, from typing it by hand — or it was not issued for this build of Luciai Studio. Copy it again rather than typing it. If it still fails, write to support.

“Your free month has ended”

This computer's free month is over. Choose Create a free account (or I already have an account) on that screen and confirm your email: the screen checks every minute and opens Luciai Studio as soon as your key is there — nothing to paste.

“This computer has had its free month”

Each computer has one free month, and this one's belongs to an account now. Sign in, copy your key from your account and paste it.

“The free month of this key ended on …”

Luciai Studio 2.6.0 and earlier say this for a key from the time the free plan lasted a month. Luciai Studio is free now: keep it open and online, and this screen picks up your key without an end date by itself within a minute — there is nothing to pay and nothing to paste. If it does not, copy the key from your account and paste it. Luciai Studio 2.7.0 and later never stop a free key.

“This key expired on …”

This is a key of a plan that ends and is renewed, and its end date and the seven days of grace have passed. Renew it in your account and paste the new key. If the date looks wrong, check your computer's date and time.

The key is already active on too many devices

Free a device you no longer use in your account, then activate the key again. The message lists the devices the key is active on.

“This computer was removed from your license”

This computer was freed in your account (or by our support, or the license moved to someone else). Choose Enter your license key and paste your key to use it here again — if the license still has a free device slot.

“This license was suspended” or “… revoked”

We stopped the license — usually because of a misuse report. Write to support; once the license is active again, choose Check now in Luciai Studio.

Still not accepted?

Write to support or adeel.ahm1985@gmail.com with the exact message Luciai Studio shows and the email address the key was issued to. Please do not post your key anywhere public.

Still stuck? Ask on the support page or write to adeel.ahm1985@gmail.com.
