Privacy and data
A short, exact list of what leaves your machine — and the one switch that turns off usage statistics.
What leaves your machine
- Your code goes only to the model you choose. With a local model through Ollama, it never leaves your machine. With a cloud provider, it goes to that provider only; with Claude Code or Codex, through the vendor's CLI to that vendor. We never receive it.
- API keys and tokens stay in your operating system's credential store. They are never sent to us.
- Your license is checked offline, from its signature. To make the device limit work, a little about each device is sent to our licensing service — details below.
- Anonymous usage statistics are sent unless you switch them off — details below.
Anonymous usage statistics
Usage statistics are on by default. Luciai Studio tells you so on the first start, and one switch in Settings turns them off. They help us see which features are used and fix what breaks.
What they contain
- Which features are used, and how long some actions take.
- For each Lucicoder turn: its mode (agent, plan, chat…), which kind of model provider answered — a built-in provider by its name (Ollama, Anthropic…), one you set up yourself only as “other” — whether it finished, how long it took, and how many files it changed. Never the message, the answer, file names or model names.
- Errors and crashes: their type, a redacted message and the stack trace.
- The app version, the operating system and its version, the processor architecture and the language setting.
- A random installation ID, made on your computer on the first start. We store it only as a hash; it lets us count installations without knowing who you are.
What they never contain
Code, file contents, file names, paths, email addresses or tokens. Error messages are redacted before they are stored: paths, email addresses, tokens and numbers that look like secrets are replaced. We do not store your IP address with them.
How long they are kept
Individual events are deleted after 90 days, and error and crash reports after 180 days. After that, only daily totals remain.
Switching them off
Open Settings and switch off usage statistics. From then on, Luciai Studio sends none.
License checks and devices
Starting the IDE needs no connection: the key is verified offline. When Luciai Studio is online, it registers the device with our licensing service, so that your plan's device limit works, and checks in when it starts, every 12 hours while it runs, and every minute while it shows that a key has ended — to pick up a renewed key (a key without an end date, for one from the time the free plan lasted a month), and to learn that a device was freed in your account. For each device, the service keeps:
- a salted hash of a machine identifier — never the identifier itself;
- the device's name, operating system and version, and processor architecture;
- the app version, and when the key was last activated or checked on it.
You see your devices in your account, and can free one there.
The website and your account
The website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. When you sign in, one strictly necessary cookie keeps you signed in; your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser, not sent to us.
For your account we keep your name, your email address, your licenses and devices, and a log of the emails we sent you. Your password is stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text or in a form that can be turned back into it.
Luciai Studio is free. If you buy me a coffee, Buy Me a Coffee handles the payment: we never see your card or bank details. From Buy Me a Coffee we receive the name, email address and message you gave there, and the amount.
The privacy policy covers all of it in full: who processes what, on which legal basis, for how long, and your rights — including a copy of your data or its deletion.
